Hello Archers,
Welcome to Black Mt Archery Club. We have been around for over 25 years. We are a well established 3-D archery club. Our core membership is made up of real bowhunters that do this to sharpen our yardage and shooting skills for the real thing. When that moment of truth comes we want to be ready to make a clean humane harvest of one of God's greatest gifts to us.
Our range is on the property of Joe and Laland Anderson between Dawsonville and Dahlonega, GA. We have always been a family oriented club. We enjoy seeing kids involved in archery and shooting. This is the future of our sport. The more the better. Kids 11 and under always shoot for free at BMAC. Also, each one is a winner to us and all will receive a special award just for shooting (Please, keep this between the grown-ups. We want them to be surprised when we get them up in front of everyone and we brag on how good they have shot.) We are a club in the North GA Archery Circuit rotation. There are 3 other clubs in our circuit. Please, visit the other club links on our "Links" page.
The terrain of our 3-D range consist of unique and diverse shooting situations. You can expect a little of everything from flat, uphill and downhill shots and walking in a mature hardwood/pine mixture. We provide ice cold water and cups on the range and we monitor it to make sure there is plenty at all times. You will see shots that are consistent with real bowhunting. You may stand flat footed, but may also encounter standing up on a big round stump, a big flat rock, a bolder, big log, in a real tree stand just barely off the ground while we will stive to make footing safe and comfortable for all, you may find yourself leaning around a tree, kneeling, or maybe even sitting on a 5 gallon bucket in order to get that shot at a trophy Delta buck, bear, turkey, hog, etc. We mostly shoot 20 targets at unknown distance with different stakes for different classes. We use all Delta/McKenzie targets using 5, 8, 10 and ASA 12 ring scoring, but sometimes we may offer the dreaded, but fun ASA 14 ring scoring on some targets.
We sometimes offer a 10 target known distance range with a 50% payback and/or a 10 target Ironman range that will stress test the hardiest of arrows and the shooting skills of brave archers that partake of this fun shoot (1 arrow - NO binos - are you tuff enough?). Sometimes we mix them together to get things really interesting.
So, if you are looking for a good way to spend a day in the great outdoors with your family, without spending a lot of money, we have what you need. We have a max cost for families of $25 per shoot that includes Mom, Dad and the kids 18 and under still living at home. We promote fun and competition while we encourage our club members and shooters to keep the experience clean and wholesome as a good example to the little ones who watch and remember everything we do.

Remember, we welcome constructive ideas to make us better.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you,
2012 President BMAC
